Available Roles

Oil Spill Response Technician

An emergency responder responsible for the containment and recovery of oil and hazardous materials on water and land.

Location: Quebec City / Montreal (Field-based) • Status: Full-Time, On-Call Rotation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Response Operations: Deploy and retrieve containment booms, operate high-capacity skimmers, and manage sorbent materials during active spill events.

  • Equipment Readiness: Maintain and repair specialized response equipment, including vacuum units, pressure washers, and temporary storage bladders.

  • Site Remediation: Assist in Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) activities and perform manual cleanup of contaminated coastal areas.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • NFPA 472 / HAZWOPER 40-hr equivalent (Hazardous Materials Technician).

  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) and MED A3/SDV-BS (Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety).

  • Valid Class 3 or 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

  • Physical ability to lift 25 kg and work in varied weather conditions.

Marine Deckhand / Responder

The primary physical support for vessel operations during debris removal and environmental monitoring missions.

Location: Halifax • Status: Seasonal & Permanent Positions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the safe navigation, docking, and anchoring of cleanup vessels.

  • Operate deck machinery such as cranes, winches, and hydraulic lifts to pull large debris (ghost nets, plastics) from the water.

  • Perform routine vessel maintenance, including painting, cleaning, and engine checks.

Requirements:

  • Bridge Watch Rating (BWR) Certificate issued by Transport Canada.

  • STCW Basic Safety (MED) and Marine Medical Certificate.

  • Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Maritime (ROC-M).

  • Strong team player with a focus on maritime safety protocols.

Environmental Compliance Manager

You will oversee the legal and environmental integrity of our operations. This role bridges the gap between field work and regulatory requirements, ensuring our cleanup methods align with both federal and provincial law.

Location: Montreal (Regional Office with site visits) • Status: Permanent, Salary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and the MELCCFP.
  • Permitting & Reporting: Manage the acquisition of environmental permits and ensure all “Oil Record Book” entries and waste manifests are legally compliant.

  • Audit & Strategy: Lead internal audits on waste disposal flows (LQE compliance) and develop sustainable strategies for the recycling of recovered marine plastics.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Environmental Engineering, Biology, or Law.

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or Ordre des chimistes du Québec preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canada Shipping Act and Quebec Environmental Quality Act.
